When Afghan girls walk out of the school gates on the last day of grade six, their formal education ends. Since September 2021, girls have been banned from secondary school.
The impacts are devastating and far-reaching:
Girls are growing up without the chance to learn, grow, or shape their own destinies. Despite 90% of Afghans supporting girls’ right to education, by 2030 four million Afghan girls will have been deprived of schooling. (UN News)
Our goal is to launch our new online education initiative by spring 2026, and we are working carefully to build a program that is strong, stable, and truly responsive to Afghan girls’ needs. Right now, our focus is not only on designing the program but also on strengthening the organizational foundation that will make it possible.
All donations to our Her Future, Our Promise campaign will be matched by Shabana Basij-Rasikh and her Don’t Look Away Fund. This means every contribution will make double the impact for Afghan girls. Your gift today will directly affect the number of girls we can reach through our pilot next year and help build the next chapter of education for girls who have been denied the chance to learn.
