Susan Ayari is newly retired from a long career in education. She spent 30 years teaching students from the early primary grades through university. She has years of practical experience teaching early grade literacy and numeracy and developing and implementing interactive and integrated curricula. In 2005, Susan went to work for USAID in Yemen and Jordan managing education programs and leading education teams. In 2013, Susan was UNICEF Jordan’s Chief of Education where she built the office’s nascent education section that was critically needed because of the impact of the Syrian Crisis on Jordan. In 2016, Susan went to work for Creative Associates International where she directed projects in Afghanistan, Yemen, Jordan, and Palestine. She also served as Creative’s Program Director for its Education Division overseeing the management of the company’s education portfolio.
Susan holds an M.A. from UMass Boston in TESOL Education, and a B.A. from Boston University in Elementary Education.
